There can be a wide gap between how satisfactory we believe our systems work and how well they work when viewed from an outside perspective. It is astonishing the number of staff that perform the same, repetitive, redundant, low-value transactional work every day simply because “it has always been done that way”, “the system requires it like this”, “no one told me (four years ago) that I no longer had to do it that way”. How do you find out what your own people know about the inner workings of your business? You can’t, because you will not be able to get the information from the employees.
They’ll tell you want you want to hear, not because of fear/uncertainty/doubt (FUD), but because it is human nature.
Our proven confidential IT survey for clients target two separate goals. Our IT Service survey is a “report card” of the current Information Services. All staff touched by existing technology participates. In this survey we collect information on the best and the worst of the system, processes and procedures now in use at the organization.
During our second survey, we have all staff work with our “Top Ten” system during their workday. This survey comes with explanations and examples of how to identify inefficiencies or “gaps”, where technological solutions may be able to help. Your staff needs not identify the solution (although we provide room for suggestions), but simply record the problem, and if possible, estimate the cost (in value or in lost time) of maintaining the status quo.
All of Logical Developments’ surveys are confidential. Packages are provided to the employees with self-addressed envelopes for direct return to Logical Developments. The results are loaded into a customized database for report production and analysis. The client never sees the original source material, but does receive full reports in both detail and summary format. This is to protect the confidentiality of the participants, but primarily it is because we have found this model results in the very best, most honest responses possible during the survey. We remove the FUD factor.
